The neck is the junction between the trunk and the head, what we think and what we feel. When we encounter issues with the neck, we can assume that there may be conflict between what we are feeling and/or thinking and expressing. Perhaps we are not speaking our truth and holding back emotions. There may also be an issue which we may not want to confront, or we are wanting to turn away from, and this can also show up as pain or a stiff neck. Sometimes it could be an issue with someone who is literally a “pain in the neck” and we may also be wanting to turn away from them.
Feelings that get repressed and remain unexpressed may cause issues in the neck, as this is our communication center in the body. This is where what we feel and think gets transformed into sound vibrations. As we become overcharged with emotions, such as sadness or anger, for example, we may find that the area of the neck tenses up. Also, it must be considered and remain in mind that the position of the neck says a lot about our attitude in life. You may want to try an exercise where you hold your head and neck in different positions and see how this may affect how you feel. This can help with your awareness of how each position can affect your emotions and vice versa, how your emotions have created your posture.
